Luis Alberto de Cuenca awarded the Humanist Leader Prize 2016

Luis Alberto de Cuenca, President of the Spanish National Library’s Royal Trust, member of the Royal Academy of History and member of the Fundación Juanelo Turriano Advisory Committee, received the Humanist Leader Prize 2016 on 24 June last.

The prize, granted by Escuela Internacional de Negocios Aliter, was awarded in a ceremony held on the occasion of the Sixth Liderazgo Empresarial y Humanismo Forum.

Fundación Eduardo Torroja has published the Judges’ report on its International Ideas Competition.

 A total of 288 proposals were submitted, 218 from universities in Spain and 70 from other countries: 628 students and 118 professors from 59 universities in 17 countries participated.

The prizes were awarded in the future Eduardo Torroja Museum at La Zarzuela Racecourse, Madrid, on 29 June.

The course Artes, Letras y ciencias: Creadores santanderinos. Juan José Arenas de Pablo: Puentes y humanismo [Arts, letters and science: creators from Santander. Juan José Arenas de Pablo: bridges and humanism] will be delivered (in Spanish) at the Menéndez Pelayo International University, Santander, Spain from 10 to 12 August 2016.

In this multi-disciplinary review of a 50-plus year career, the course pays tribute to an unrivalled design engineer. Indisputably one of the most outstanding figures in Spanish civil engineering, Arenas de Pablo authored designs for any number of unique bridges and papers on technical and historic subjects, championed the defence of the historic heritage, and shared his knowledge as professor of Bridges.

Announcement of research grant 2016. 1st edition

Fundación Biblioteca de Ciencia y Artillería announces the first edition of its research grant on the books and documents in the Artillery Academy library’s stacks, the cultural and scientific portrayal of the artillery or the interaction between the Artillery Academy and the city of Segovia.

University graduates or researchers who can accredit their experience in the fields announced are eligible to apply for this 9 month grant.

The deadline for submitting applications is 14 October 2016.
