2024 Turriano ICOHTEC Prize

Papers are now being admitted for the Turriano ICOHTEC Prize 2024, organised by the International Committee for the History of Technology (ICOHTEC).

The awardee paper will receive a  2500-euro prize funded by Fundación Juanelo Turriano and will be read at the upcoming ICOHTEC symposium. 

The deadline for submitting papers is 30 April 2024.

The engineer who deciphered the ‘enigma’ of arches. Book presentation
At 10:30 AM on 6 February at the Technical University of Madrid’s School of Civil Engineering, Santiago Huerta will present a manuscript by Professor Joaquín Monasterio, the Spanish engineer who applied Coulomb’s ideas to decipher the ‘enigma of architecture’.

Fernando Sáenz Ridruejo and Francisco Javier León, Foundation trustees and members of the Foundation’s Advisory Commission, will participate in the presentation.
 
Historical, structural and numerical analysis of masonry constructions

The International Seminar and Round Table on Historical, Structural and Numerical Analysis of Masonry Constructions is scheduled to be held on 26 February in the School of Civil Engineering’s Torres Quevedo Lecture Hall.

The speakers from the Foundation will include our president, José María Goicolea, full professor at the Technical University of Madrid, and Daniel Crespo, researcher with the Foundation and professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.
