Agustín de Betancourt 1758-1824 exhibit. 3D animations

International Congress on Betancourt and the Legacy of Engineering: Water and Territory

The International Congress on Betancourt and the Legacy of Engineering: Water and Territory, directed by Daniel Crespo and Rita Ruiz, was held on 11 and 12 April at the Ciudad Real School of Civil Engineering and in the National Library.

The congress ended on 12 April with a tour of the exhibit Agustín de Betancourt, 1758-1824 in the National Library.

How skyscrapers withstand earthquakes

On 4 April José María Goicolea Ruigómez appeared on the Noticias Cuatro television show to explain skyscraper behaviour during earthquakes and the system installed during construction to help skyscrapers weather tremors.

José María Goicolea is a full professor at Madrid Technical University’s School of Civil Engineering and president of our foundation.

2024 Turriano ICOHTEC Prize
The deadline for submissions for the 2024 Turriano ICOHTEC Prize is 30 April. The prize is organised by ICOHTEC-International Committee for the History of Technology.

The awardee book will receive a  2500-euro prize funded by Fundación Juanelo Turriano and will be presented and discussed at the upcoming ICOHTEC symposium. .

The prize seeks to further, promote and disseminate research concerning the history of transport, the history of public works, civil engineering heritage and the history of land planning.

The deadline for submitting original papers is 7 September 2024.
