First Symposium on Tourism and the Industrial Heritage
The Municipal Government of Segovia’s Department of Tourism organised its First Symposium on Tourism and the Industrial Heritage on 5 and 6 November. Fundación Juanelo Turriano Director Bernardo Revuelta Pol delivered the inaugural address entitled  La aportación de la Fundación Juanelo Turriano a la recuperación del patrimonio industrial [The Fundación Juanelo Turriano and its contribution to the recovery of the industrial heritage].
Luis Alberto de Cuenca, President of the National Library’s Board of Trustees
Alberto de Cuenca, member of the Royal Academy of History and of the Fundación Juanelo Turriano Advisory Commission, was elected to preside the National Library of Spain’s Royal Trust on 29 October last.

This study was awarded the first edition of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers’ E-book prize for research on civil engineering.

Advanced Master in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions. Grants

Applications are now being accepted for grants for the Advanced Master in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions.

This master course is delivered by a consortium of major European universities, including the University of Minho, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Czech Technical University in Prague, the University of Padua and the Czech Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

The deadline for receiving applications is 15 January 2016.

The Historic Archive of the Province of Toledo will host the travelling exhibition The Golden Age in the Castile-La Mancha archives from 10 November to 18 December.

Toledo is the final venue in Castile-La Mancha of this exhibition, which among other features, Garcilaso de la Vega’s will, a lease signed by Lope de Vega, the dowry letter signed by Juanelo Turriano for his granddaughter and documents that belonged to St. Teresa.

Sanmateo Isaac Peral’s book El submarino Peral. De la gloria a la traición [The Peral submarine, from glory to treason] was presented on 22 October at Cartagena’s Roman Theatre Museum.

The event was presided by Juan Ignacio Chacón Bulnes, author of the book El submarino Peral. Día a día de su construcción, funcionamiento y pruebas [The Peral submarine, day-by-day account of its construction, operation and trials], who also unveiled his 1:200 scale model of the original vessel.

On the occasion of the European Year of Industrial Heritage, the Guadalajara Public Library and the Asociación de Amigos de la Biblioteca are organising a conference series and other activities from October 2015 to May 2016 to heighten public awareness of the industrial heritage in the city and its surrounding province.

Announcement of an Ideas workshop for refurbishing Concepción Francisca Convent

The Toledo School of Architecture is organising an Ideas workshop for refurbishing Concepción Francisca Convent, to be held at Toledo from 16 to 20 November.

The workshop is designed for young Spanish architects and the school’s senior undergraduates, who during the week will propose ideas and alternative strategies to refurbish the building and restore its value.
