Photography and public works. Modern landscapes. Lucio del Valle. Exhibition

The exhibition entitled Photography and public works. Modern landscapes. Lucio del Valle (1815-1874) opened on 17 December at Valencia, where it will remain on display through 21 February 2016.

Organised by the University of Valencia’s Demetrio Ribes Chair and other institutions and supported by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, the exhibition views the history of civil engineering through the works of civil engineer Lucio del Valle.

10th International Molinology Congress. Deadline for communications
Papers for the 10th International Congress on Molinology, to be held at Segovia on 20-22 May 2016, will be accepted through the deadline on 10 January next. 

This edition of the congress organised by the Asociación para la Conservación y Estudio de los Molinos [ACEM, association for the conservation and study of mills] will revolve around the following subject areas: history, heritage, ethnography and folklore; restoration, protection, landscapes, tourism and usage; and technology and engineering.

On 16 December, Spanish Navy Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Jaime Muñoz-Delgado, presided the opening ceremony for the exhibition Masters of the sea, lords of the world on display at Madrid’s Naval Museum. This showing of Spain’s nautical cartography, which aims to heighten awareness of the country’s extraordinary contribution to planetary geography, will be open to the public through 27 March.

On 16 December on the occasion of the congress Spanish Aviation’s Remarkable Decade, Francisco González Redondo delivered a lecture on Leonardo Torres Quevedo and his dirigibles. In 2016 Spain will celebrate Torres Quevedo Year to commemorate the centenary of the Whirlpool (or Spanish) Aero Car at Niagara Falls (1916-2016).
