Tenth International Congress on Molinology

The Tenth International Congress on Molinology, organised by the Asociación para la Conservación y Estudio de los Molinos [ACEM, Association for the Conservation and Study of Mills] was held at Segovia on 20 to 22 May.

The congress, which focused on cultural tourism, was attended by experts specialising in mills and devices powered by traditional energy. Isabel Bestué and Carlos Blázquez, members of the Fundación Juanelo Turriano Advisory Commission, each presented a paper.

Grant for PhD. studies. Academic period 2016-2017
The Fundación Juanelo Turriano is calling for applications for two PhD. grants worth 14.400 euros yearly each for dissertations dealing with the history of science or engineering. Particular consideration will be given to studies relating to architecture or to hydraulic, civil or mechanical engineering.

The deadline for submitting applications is 16 September 2016.

Memorial ceremony for Manuel Criado de Val

A memorial ceremony for Manuel Criado de Val will be held on 30 May at 6:00 PM at the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers.

The ceremony, co-sponsored by the Asociación Internacional de Caminería (international association of roadway studies), will feature addresses by Juan A. Santamera, Aniceto Zaragoza, Jesús Alonso, Ignacio Menéndez Pidal and Luis Laorden.

Candidates for the MAPIND master’s course on managing the industrial heritage may pre-register with the University of Seville starting on 1 July.

The course will be delivered by the Seville School of Architecture from 27 October 2016 to 31 July 2017.

The deadline for submitting proposals for the First Symposium of New Romanesque Art and Architecture Researchers is 15 June.

The symposium will be held on 19 October, organised by the Asociación Amigos del Románico [Association of friends of Romanesque art], the Madrid School of Architecture and the Technical University of Madrid’s Master Programme on Heritage Conservation and Restoration.
