Francisco Javier León González
The Fundación Juanelo Turriano’s Advisory Commission has a new member: Francisco Javier León González, professor with the Department of Continuous Medium Mechanics and Structural Theory, School of Civil Engineering, Technical University of Madrid.
43rd Annual Meeting, ICOHTEC

ICOHTEC held its 43rd Annual Meeting at Porto. In the forthcoming and subsequent editions, the ICOHTEC Prize for Young Scholars will be named the Turriano ICOHTECPrize.

The winner of the 2016 ICOHTEC book prize for young scholars is Vanessa Meikle Schulman, for her book WORK SIGHTS: The Visual Culture of Industry in Nineteenth-Century America, which was published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 2015.

’Guadalupe, Cáceres: managing tourism in the world heritage’
The University of Extremadura held its international summer course entitled ‘Guadalupe, Cáceres: managing tourism in the world heritage’ from 19 to 21 July.

David Fernández-Ordóñez, Fundación Juanelo Turriano trustee, participated in the course, along with expert geographers, architects, tourist trade economists, archaeologists and managers and authorities representing consortia of Spanish and Portuguese world heritage cities.
Reinaissance engineers. English version
The English language version of the book entitled in Spanish Ingenieros del Renacimiento  [Reinaissance engineers] can now be read online or downloaded in PDF format.

The book reproduces the conferences delivered in Segovia on the occasion of the 2013 course on Renaissance engineers, jointly organised by the National Distance University’s (UNED) Associate Centre in Segovia and Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

National Prize for Civil Engineering awarded to Javier Rui-Wamba
Javier Rui-Wamba Martija, President of Esteyco and Fundación Esteyco, has been awarded the Ministry of Public Works’ Prize for Civil Engineering 2016.
