Historic mock-ups and scale models.Video

The introductory video for the exhibition ‘Historic mock-ups and scale models. Engineering and construction’ is now available.

The showing will be open to the public free of charge at Centro Conde Duque (9 Conde Duque St, 28015 Madrid) through 17 September.

The guided tour service will not be operational from 30 July to 31 August.

Grant and prize announcements

Applications for the Fundación Juanelo Turriano PhD. grants and papers for the García-Diego International Prize are now being accepted.

The deadline for applying for the PhD. grants is 18 September.

Terms and conditions

Papers opting for the García-Diego International Prize must be submitted by 23 January 2018.

Engineer and spy. University outreach course

A course entitled El ingeniero espía [Engineer and spy], organised by the Spanish National Distance University (UNED) and sponsored by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, will be held at UNED’s associate facility in Segovia on 20 to 22 November.

Geared to historians, engineers, art and science historians, architects, geographers and anyone interested in the subject, the course will include a visit to General Military Archive at Segovia..

It is directed by Alicia Cámara (UNED) and Bernardo Revuelta Pol (Fundación Juanelo Turriano) and carries one ECTS and two elective credits.

Artifex. Roman engineering in Spain

La Nueva España, a newspaper published in the Spanish region of Asturias, recently ran an article on the exhibition Artifex: Roman engineering, engineer Ignacio González Tascón’s dream.

The exhibition will be open to the public, cost-free, at the Oviedo Archaeological Museum through 19 October.

The programme is presented and directed by Manuel Seara and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

13th Conicam, Roadway studies congress 2017

The deadline for submitting abstracts for the Thirteenth Conicam (Roadway studies congress) has been extended to 20 September.

Organized by the Asociación Internacional de CamineríaCONICAM XIII will focus on the study of roadways and more specifically the cultural significance of roads in general and Hispanic-American and Mediterranean roads in particular.

The congress will be held at Madrid’s School of Civil Engineering from 22 to 24 November.
