García-Diego International Prize awarded (9th edition)

At its 28th February 2018 meeting held at the Fundación Juanelo Turriano headquarters, the judges decided to award the nineth edition of the García-Diego International Prize, worth 12.000 euros to:

Víctor Pérez Álvarez for the paper entitled Técnica y fe: el reloj medieval de la catedral de Toledo.[Engineering and faith: Toledo Cathedral’s Medieval clock]

The two second prizes, for 1000 euros each, were awarded to:

María Giménez Prades for the paper  Documentos cartográficos del Cuerpo de Ingenieros Militares en el siglo XVIII: Introducción a los materiales y a su técnica pictórica. [Eighteenth century Corps of Military Engineers’ maps: introduction to the materials and the pictorial technique].

Margarita Ana Vázquez Manassero for the paper El "yngenio" en palacio: arte y ciencia en la Corte de los Austrias (ca. 1585-1640). [Court ingenuity: Habsburg art and science (ca. 1585-1640)]

 

Juanelo Turriano, science and legend. Round table. Video

Juanelo Turriano, science and legend was the theme of a round table held at Spain's National Library on 1 March.

Moderated by Bernardo Revuelta Pol, the round table brought together three experts on Juanelo Turriano’s life and works: Cristiano Zanetti, Ángel Moreno and Baltasar Magro.

Juanelo Turriano, Renaissance genius. Radio interview
The 28 February edition of radio station M21’s programme Einstein en Malasaña [Einstein in Malasaña] included an interview with Bernardo Revuelta Pol on the exhibition Juanelo Turriano, Renaissance genius.

The showing will be open to the public, cost-free, at the National Library through 6 May.
