The latest addition to the Juanelo Turriano Collection on the History of Engineering will be presented on 5 April at 7:00 PM at Madrid’s San Fernando Fine Arts Academy.

Daniel Crespo Delgado is the author of Preservar los puentes. Historia de la conservación patrimonial de la ingeniería civil en España (siglo XVI-1936) [Conserving bridges: history of the conservation of Spain’s civil engineering heritage, sixteenth century to 1936].

The event will be open to the general public, cost-free.

How to get there

José Antonio Torroja Cavanillas received the Agustín de Bethencourt medal in a ceremony held on 15 March at the Technical University of Madrid’s honours hall.

The ceremony was presided by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Guillermo Cisneros. Pepa Cassinello, Fundación Eduardo Torroja Director, read the laudatio.

Abstracts for the Eleventh International Congress on Molinology to be held at Palma de Mallorca on 18 to 20 October under the theme ‘Memory, architecture, engineering and future’ may be submitted through the 31 May 2018 deadline.

An exhibition entitled F.E.F.A.S.A. Spanish manufacture of artificial fibres, industrial spaces and urban memory, Miranda de Ebro opened to the public at the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science on 13 March.

Organised by the Chartered Institute of Architects of Castile-Leon (COACYLE), the showing can be visited Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

On 14 March Miguel Rotaeche delivered a conference at the headquarters of the Basque Country Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers entitled Design for two bascule bridges over the River Nervión, authored by Ignacio de Rotaeche (1888-1951).

The Royal Academy of Engineering and its co-sponsor, Fundación Pro Rebus Academiae, are announcing the ninth edition of the Agustín de Bethencourt and Juan López de Peñalver prizes for researchers or professionals who have made original and significant contributions to any of the branches of engineering.

The deadline for receiving candidacies is 31 May 2018.
