Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize. Deadline for submission of papers

The deadline for submitting papers for the Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize is 1 February next.

The winning paper, whose author will be awarded 2500 euros, will be read at the 26thInternational Congress for the History of Science and Technology (ICHST) to be held online from 25 to 31 July 2021.

Reconstruction and Restoration of Architectural Heritage

The third Reconstruction and Restoration of Architectural Heritage congress will be held online from 24 to 27 March.

One of the 24 March sessions will consist of a mini-symposium on the history of construction jointly organised by the Technical University of Madrid and the Sociedad Española de Historia de la Construcción [Spanish society for the history of construction].

The deadline for registration is 1 March next.

An exhibition entitled El ingenio al servicio del poder. Los códices de Leonardo Da Vinci en la Corte de los Austrias [Ingenuity at the service of political power: Leonardo da Vinci’s codices at the Habsburg court] organised by the Region of Madrid in conjunction with the Royal San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts will open to the public at the Academy on 2 February.

The exhibition, which will run through 16 May, is co-curated by Daniel Crespo Delgado, professor with the Complutense University of Madrid and Fundación Juanelo Turriano researcher.

A book has recently been released under the title Trazas y negocios. Ingenieros empresarios en la España del siglo XX [Drawing and doing business: engineering and enterprise in 20th C. Spain].

Edited by Gloria Quiroga Valle, it includes the biographies of 11 20th-century Spanish engineers whose engagement in business contributed to changing the country’s history.
