The Fundación Juanelo Board of Trustees, acting on judges’ committee recommendations, has awarded its 2021-2022 PhD. research grants to:

Ester Penas González for La infraestructura y el dominio hidráulico en los monasterios cistercienses femeninos del Reino de Castilla: génesis, evolución y conservación del patrimonio (1140-1563) [Infrastructure and waterworks in female Cistercian monasteries in Castille: genesis, development and heritage conservation (1140-1563)]

Marta Perelló Ocaña for Estereotomía de la bóveda plana. Alarde y transferencia de estrategias constructivas [Flat vault stereotomy: a display of construction strategy and technology transfer]

The high quality of all the projects described in the grant applications received is a source of satisfaction for Fundación Juanelo Turriano, which thanks all the participants for their efforts and interest.

Under its Call for support for predoctoral trainees 2021, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation has issued a call for anyone interested in writing their PhD. thesis on a subject lying within the scope of the R&D+I project Cartografías de la ciudad en la Edad Moderna: relatos, imágenes, interpretaciones (CARCEM) [Modern Age city maps: narratives, illustrations, interpretations (CARCEM: PID2020-113380)].

The application deadline is 11 November.

Principal investigators: Álvaro Molina Martín and Alicia Cámara Muñoz.

Alicia Cámara Muñoz, Art History Chair at the National Distance University, serves as well as Fundación Juanelo Turriano Board Secretary.

Pepa Cassinello Plaza took up her new position as full professor and chair (department head) at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Madrid on 2 August 2021 last.

Dr Cassinello is a member of the Fundación’s Advisory Commission.
