 PhD. grant, 2022-2023. Announcement

Fundación Juanelo Turriano announces the 2022-2023 edition of its two-year, 14 400-euro grant for a PhD. thesis.

To qualify, theses must deal with the history of science or engineering: proposals for research on architecture or hydraulic, civil or mechanical engineering will receive particular consideration.

The deadline for submitting applications is 15 September 2022.

Graziella Trovato will present the book Madrid, entre río y raíles: pasado, presente y futuro del Pasillo Verde Ferroviario  [Madrid, from river to tracks: past, present and future of the Green Beltway] at 19:30 on Monday 20 May at Madrid’s Ateneo.

The book is fruit of research on the area stretching from the city’s Paseo de la Florida and Arganzuela to Atocha Station.

The event is open to the public cost-free subject only to room capacity.

The Royal Academy of Engineering announces the 12th edition of is Agustín Betancourt y Molina and Juan López de Peñalver Awards, co-sponsored by Fundación Pro Rebus Academiae.

These awards target researchers and professionals engaged in engineering and under 40 on 1 January 2022. Candidates must have spent a significant part of their career in Spain and continue to be professionally involved with the country.

The deadline for submitting candidacies is 17 June 2022.

Science and Enlightenment in Feijoo’s Spain. Congress

Science and Enlightenment in Feijoo’s Spain, a congress organised by the National Distance University and the University of Oviedo in collaboration with the Instituto Feijoo de Estudios del Siglo XVII, was held at Oviedo on 4 and 5 May.

Daniel Crespo Delgado, professor at the Complutense University of Madid and Fundación Juanelo Turriano researcher, participated with a paper on waterworks in Enlightenment Spain.
