Hydraulic Architecture in Bridge Building. Book presentation

On 6 May the book Arquitectura hidráulica en las fábricas de puentes. Método de proyectarlos y de repararlos [Hydraulic Architecture in Bridge Building. Method for Bridge Design and Repair] (1768), by Antonio de San José Pontones, was presented at the Chartered Institute of Architects of Madrid.

The authors, Daniel Crespo Delgado, Benedetta Orfeo and Javier León, spoke after the presentation made by representatives of the institutions involved in the book’s publication.

Engineering: From the Enlightenment to the Industrial Revolution. 2025 summer course

Fundación Juanelo Turriano and the Madrid School of Civil Engineering is offering a summer course entitled Engineering: From the Enlightenment to the Industrial Revolution. The course will be held at the Madrid School of Civil Engineering, on the Ciudad Universitaria campus, from 8 to 10 July 2025.

Thirteenth García-Diego International Prize. Submission deadline ends
The deadline for submissions for the thirteenth García-Diego International Prize for research into any of the branches of the history of technology, worth 8,000 euros, ends on 29 May.

Up to two runners-up may be chosen, who will receive 2,000 euros apiece.
