Third Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD theses

Submissions are being accepted for the third Pedro Navascués Prize for excellence in engineering history research.

The 6,000-euro prize recognises PhD theses that contribute fresh insights into the development of engineering.
All branches and eras of engineering history are eligible.

Submission deadline: 18 December 2025

The archaeologist engineer (sixteenth to nineteenth centuries). University extension course

The registration period is open for the university extension course El ingeniero arqueólogo [The archaeologist engineer], organised by the National Distance University’s Associated Institution at Segovia with the collaboration of Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

The course will be held on 24 to 26 October in Segovia and is available for attendance both in person and on line (live or pre-recorded).

The programme is intended for historians, engineers, architects, geographers, tour guides and other persons interested in the intersection between engineering and history. It will include a tour of the Royal Mint in Segovia.

Fourteenth International Molinology Conference

From 16 to 19 October the city of León is hosting the Fourteenth International Molinology Conference, whose topic is Age-old landscapes, repertory of wisdom.

This encounter is one of the leading forums for scholars and champions of milling heritage.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano is one of the collaborating institutions.

The first Water, Landscape and Society Conference (WaLS Conference) will be held at the Roca Barcelona Gallery on 9 and 10 October. The conference is organised by institutions including the University of Barcelona’s Institut de Recerca de l’Aigua (IdRA-UB).

This international encounter will explore the historical interaction between water, land and society.

In honour of Javier Rui-Wamba
The Agustín de Betancourt Hall at the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers will be the location for a ceremony in honour of Javier Rui-Wamba, his career and legacy, on 1 October next at 6:30 PM.

Javier Rui-Wamba was a Fundación Juanelo Turriano trustee.
