The Tagus River’s hydraulic engineering heritage. From Juanelo Turriano’s artifacts to electric turbines

A lecture will be delivered on 25 May at 11:30 AM in the auditorium of the School of Industrial Engineering of Madrid to share the results of Project PATO (Patrimonio hidráulico del río Tajo. De los artificios de Juanelo Turriano a las turbinas eléctricas) [The Tagus River’s hydraulic engineering heritage. From Juanelo Turriano’s artifacts to electric turbines].

José María Martín Civantos, Marisa Barahona Oviedo and Luis Miguel Zahonero will participate in the presentation.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano is funding and collaborating in this initiative.

Heinz Hossdorf. Mago del arte estructural [Heinz Hossdorf. Structural art wizard]
The book Heinz Hossdorf. Mago del arte estructural [Heinz Hossdorf. Structural art wizard] will be presented and an accompanying exhibit of the same name will be opened on 10 June at 6:30 PM at the auditorium of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers of Madrid.

The book’s author is Pepa Cassinello, a member of our Foundation’s Advisory Commission, who has also curated the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to visitors, cost-free, through 10 July.

The work Ruedas, campanas y tardones: relojes mecánicos en la Castilla Bajomedieval, by researcher Víctor Pérez, is now available in digital format.

The edition, published by Trivent Publishing, has been supported by the Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

Más de tres puentes en Toledo [More than three bridges in Toledo]. Book presentation

The book Más de tres puentes en Toledo [More than three bridges in Toledo] was presented on 15 May last in Toledo. The book is published by the Castilla-La Mancha Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineers.

Participants included Julio Porres de Mateo, a member of our Foundation’s Advisory Commission, who spoke about the legacy of his father, historian Julio Porres Martín-Cleto, whose 1993 lecture Tres puentes en Toledo [Three bridges in Toledo] is the source and focal point of the book.

The Asociación para la Conservación y Estudio de los Molinos (ACEM, Association for the Conservation and Study of Mills) is accepting articles for issue 54 of Molinum. Revista de molonología until 15 June 2026.

The journal, founded in 1998, went back into publication in January with the mission of continuing to encourage and spread knowledge of mill-related heritage.

The deadline for submitting abstracts and paper proposals for the 28th International Conference on Industrial Heritage organised by INCUNA is open until 30 June.

The conference will be held in Gijón from 23 to 26 September 2026 under the theme From Factory to Project.
