Fourth Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD. theses
The Fundación Juanelo Turriano is accepting applications for the fourth Pedro Navascués Prize for PhD. theses.

Topics must be related to the history of engineering. All branches and periods are eligible. Papers relating to the Foundation’s career will receive preference in scoring.

The application submission deadline is 17 December 2026.

Utopias. Engineers and architects on progress, between Leonardo da Vinci and the A-bomb. University extension course

The registration period is open for the university extension course Utopías. Ingenieros y arquitectos frente al progreso, entre Leonardo da Vinci y la bomba atómica [Utopias. Engineers and architects on progress, between Leonardo da Vinci and the A-bomb], organised by the National Distance University’s Associated Institution at Segovia, with the collaboration of Fundación Juanelo Turriano.

The course will be held on 23 to 25 October in Segovia and can be attended either in person or on line (live or pre-recorded).

Fifteenth International Molinology Conference

The Asociación para la Conservación y Estudio de los Molinos (ACEM, Association for the Conservation and Study of Mills) announces the Fifteenth International Molinology Conference, to be held in Bilbao from 28 to 30 October 2027. The conference is organised in collaboration with Bizkaikoa, a public business entity dependent on the Bizkaia Provincial Council.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano is participating as a collaborating institution.

Defence of PhD thesis
Marta Perelló Ocaña, beneficiary of the 2021-2022 edition of the Fundación Juanelo Turriano doctoral grant, was awarded summa cum laude honours for her PhD. thesis entitled Estereotomía de la bóveda plana. Alarde y transferencia de estrategias constructivas [Flat vault stereotomy: a display of construction strategy and technology transfer].

Supervised by Enrique Rabasa, the thesis was read at ETSAM, Madrid School of Architecture on 8 June.
