image006

The Fundación Juanelo Turriano, in conjunction with the Regional Department of Infrastructure, Land Management and Environmental Affairs of Valencia, has published the book El discurso del Ingeniero en el Siglo XIX. Aportaciones a la Historia de las Obras Públicas (Nineteenth century engineering discourse. Contributions to the history of public works) by Professor Inmaculada Aguilar Civera, Demetrio Ribes chair (sponsored by the University of Valencia, General Studies, and the Regional Department of Infrastructure, Land Management and Environmental Affairs).

The book, with its series of writings by nineteenth century engineers, seeks to capture their gaze and discourse as contributions to the history of public works in Spanish historiography. It highlights the role of engineers in the study of the history of their own discipline.
