ROLLER PRESS FOR THE MINT AT SEGOVIA

On 28 June, Pedro Arahuetes, Mayor of Segovia, and Victoriano Muñoz Cava, President of Fundación Juanelo Turriano, concluded an agreement whereby the foundation will finance the design and construction of a roller press for the Royal Mint Museum at Segovia. The three hydraulic wheels presently in operation at the museum were also funded by the foundation. Installation of the new device is scheduled for late 2014.

JUANELO TURRIANO LIBRARY IN WORLDCAT

The Fundación Juanelo Turriano Library has recently adhered to the Online Computer Library Center’s (OCLC) Worldcat. It is the first Spanish foundation to list its resources in that collective catalogue.

OCLC is the world’s largest library cooperative, whose members produce and maintain Worldcat, an on-line database containing the records of all the member libraries. The enormous advantage for users is that they can find the items available in over 10 000 libraries worldwide in a single search.

With this endeavour, the Fundación Juanelo Turriano is on a par, qualitatively speaking, with all the world’s major libraries, having passed the OCLC’s strict international standards. The listing of its records in Worldcat constitutes a qualitative leap in the internationalisation and dissemination of the library’s collection.
