PERAL SUBMARINE. BOOK PRESENTATION IN THE SCHOOL OF NAVAL ARCHITECTURE

Submarino Peral, día a día de su construcción (The Peral submarine, day-by-day construction), a book published by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, will be presented at 12:30 PM on 6 March in the School of Naval Architecture. The author, Juan Ignacio Chacón Bulnes, winner of the sixth edition of the García-Diego prize, will be the keynote speaker.

The Asociación para la Conservación y Estudio de los Molinos – ACEM, (ACEM - Association for the conservation and study of mills), has released issue 45 of its journal Molinum, in which it pays tribute to Antxon Aguirre Sorondo, its founder and president, deceased on 30 January last.

The journal can be read on-line or downloaded

The association also continues to publish summaries of the hard copy issues of the journal released in 1998 to 2001. A copy of issue 4 is also available to read on-line o download.

The Rede Portuguesa de Moinhos (Portuguese mills network) is organising the eighth edition of its yearly “Dia dos Moinhos Abertos” (open-house day in mills), intended to restore as many Portuguese mills as possible to operation and public use. This initiative, to be held on 5 to 7 April, seeks to heighten awareness in Portugal of this heritage asset by re-opening from 120 to 150 mills.

TICCIH España (Spanish chapter of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage) is organising a seminar/workshop that will address the past and present of worker housing. The event will be held at Parla, in the Spanish province of Madrid, on 19, 20 and 21 June 2014.

The deadline for submitting communications is 1 May.
