2020 Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize

The 47th ICOHTEC annual symposium, held online under the theme A History of Technology for an Age of Crisis, closed on 17 July last.

The Turriano-ICOHTEC Prize was awarded to Claas Kirchhelle for his book Pyrrhic Progress: the History of Antibiotics in Anglo-American Food Production and Nicolas Simoncini for his  thesis Histoire de la recherche sur les piles à combustible en Francce des années soixante aux années quatre-vingt.

Honourable mention was awarded to Lucía Jimena Juárez for her PhD thesis Trading Nations: Architecture, Informal Empire and the Scottish Cast Iron Industry in Argentina.

Sponsored by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, this annual prize is awarded to the author of the year’s most outstanding PhD. thesis or monograph on the history of technology.

Sueño e Ingenio. Exhibition open to the public
The exhibition Sueño e ingenio. Libros de ingeniería civil: del Renacimiento a las Luces [Dreams and ingenuity, civil engineering books from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment] will remain open to the public through 27 September at Spain’s National Library.

Opening hours:

Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Saturday, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM

Sunday and holidays, closed

Hall capacity has been limited to 16 visitors
