At its meeting of 1 June 2026, Fundación Juanelo Turriano’s Board of Trustees appointed David Fernández-Ordóñez as its new president. He will be taking over from José María Goicolea, who has been named director of the Foundation.

Furthermore, Claudio Olalla Marañón, outgoing secretary of the Board, will now serve as vice-president, succeeding José Antonio González Carrión, who served notice of his decision to step down from the Board.

Bernardo Revuelta Pol, who directed the Foundation from 2006 to 2026, is joining the board and will serve as secretary.

Advisory Commission members Rosario Martínez Vázquez de Parga and Javier García-Gutiérrez Mosteiro will also be occupying seats on the Board.

These appointments and resignations are effective as of 1 July 2026.

The Foundation thanks all the officers concerned for their valuable work and their commitment to the institution during their time in office.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano’s Advisory Commission is embarking on a new chapter with the appointment of Isabel Bestué Cardiel as chair. Bestué will be stepping up from her position as a Commission member to take over from David Fernández-Ordóñez, who will be presiding over the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Fundación Juanelo Turriano would like to remind applicants that the deadline for submissions for the 2026 Turriano ICOHTEC Prize offered by the International Committee for the History of Technology (ICOHTEC) ends on 15 June next.

The award, sponsored by Fundación Juanelo Turriano, acknowledges outstanding work in the field of the history of technology with a 2,500-euro prize.

The winning paper will be presented at the upcoming ICOHTEC symposium, which will be held in Alexandroupolis, Greece, from 8 to 11 October 2026.
