TheMadrid School of Architecture’s (ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid)first summer course and workshop, 7 to 13 July, will be on theconstruction of Gothic ribbed vaults. The course, designed and headed by Carlos Palacios, is backed by the school’s Construction Department and Santiago Huerta of the Sociedad Española de Historia de la Construcción (Spanish society on the history of construction).

The book entitledMiradas desde el ferrocarril del azúcar: paisaje y patrimonio industrial en la Vega de Granada [gaze from the sugar train: landscape and industrial heritage in the GranadaValley]by Miguel Reyes Mesa and Miguel Giménez Yanguas was presented at the Town Hall Plenary Auditorium on 21 May. Both authors are affiliated with the University of Granada’s Industrial Heritage Research Group. The presentation was delivered by Manuel Martín Rodríguez, Professor of Political Economy specialising in the beet sugar industry.
